Network Media system - each station user controlled ??

Im looking to set up something kinda like what you have in airplanes. Basically the ability for a user at a station to select music, video, etc. that he/she wants to view that will pull it off a central media server. I have been looking around but I cannot find anything that is readily available. Any Ideas on what I can do or where I should look?

so basically, If I were to set this up in my car, I would have maybe one touchscreen LCD in the front and two in the back headrests. They would all be linked to a central media server that would allow individual control from each touchscreen LCD. the person in front could listen to music while the two in the back could watch two different movies.

The cosest thing to a solution that I can find so far is a WIFI PMP like a archos 705 or something. But that is a little pricey and I would almost rather have hardlines run to ensure good media playback.

I saw such a thing. But it was 4 xbox's with a Windows media server. It was in some show "boat" Hummer at a trade show. Very slick, very custom. Your post makes me think you are shooting for something cheaper.
