Question

Network issues - looking for help for troubleshooting

Aug 30, 2015 12:55PM PDT

In our household we use 3 laptops: One is directly connected to our Router via Lan and causes no problems, the other 2, both, Lenovo G50-70, Windows 8.1, access the router via WLAN and tend to have connecting issues regularly a day, especially in the evening.

The problem can be resolved for short time, by disconnecting and reconnecting to the router . However this is rather dissatisfying as the problem reoccurs after a couple of webpages.

There I ran a test to trouble shoot the problem and got the follwoing results:
http://netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/restore/id=36ea240d-15934-a0dda023-1887-4beb-8ed5

However my knowledge regarding network issues is still rather basic and therefore I want to ask for help:
I would be very happy, if there were someone, who could help me fix this issue.

Any constructive comment and answer is appreciated.

I'm guessing you need more than prior replies.

That test showed many issues consistent with internet connection TAMPERING. This can be a virus, trojan, malware, an over reaching antivirus or other.

Your last statement gives me an uneasy feeling you want specifics. Sadly this is not possible today unless we tell folk to restore to factory conditions which in my view is not what most want but given I can't tell what's infected or different from stock, it is a valid answer.

That's the only definite cure. Yes we can scan with the usual tools and you can share more details why you think those DNS and other items failed but your last sentence is telling me you don't want to try the usual. Tell more.

Regarding last sentence
Sep 5, 2015 7:02AM PDT

I consider unknowledge or uncertainity to be a great weakness and thus I am always very displeased with myself, if I cannot figure out a problem on my own.
As said: My knowledge regarding networks etc. is very basic and I would also appreciate it, if I got any recommendations to read up on that topic, (apart from wikipedia)

Currently I also like the time to set up my laptop from anew due to work, searching for a accommodation + preparing for exams...

The background on network
Sep 5, 2015 10:20AM PDT

Is something that took me years to accumulate. I have yet to see what I learned put forward in a 5 minute video so where to go for folk that need quick knowledge? (I don't know.)

There are some scans that folk can perform such as what Grif notes but your last comment gives me pause. You seem to be using this for school and more so if scanning alerts some of those more modern trojans and causes them to self destruct then that would be bad news.

Windows PCs and most computing devices are not reliable enough to go without backups. If you are ready to have the PC melt down as you do have your backups then try Grif's list at

You can also get some help at bleepingcomputer but as you know there are 1000's looking for help. May be a delay there too.

mistake in last sentence
Sep 6, 2015 2:56AM PDT

How do you edit your posts?
Regarding last sentence: I ailed negating the sentence.
Currently I don't have the time to reinstall my OS, it would take me at least 1 day, realistically two days, which I currently can't afford. That is why I am against setting up my laptop from anew..

I don't mind taking a few years to accumulate knowledge on network systems. I am sure, I will benefit from that, especially because then I can help other people, maybe other people, who are actually really smart, but just don't know (yet) so much about networks.

router model needed
Aug 30, 2015 1:20PM PDT

what is the model number of the router? How old is it? How far away are the wireless devices when being used?

Giving more informations
Sep 5, 2015 6:58AM PDT

The router used is: "Speedport w 724v" by "Telekom"

I don't think the router is especially old, an upper bound would be 2 years, however I consider 1 year to be more realistic +/- a few months

The distance to the router depends Silly
0.5m up to 20m - I does not seem to change much.

At my university my laptop and the internet connection work perfectly fine.
