damage to the Registry after having "multiple trojans etc." Backup your data and reinstall.
Just experiencing a problem with my internet, first a bit of information about my machine:
It's an P4 2800 running windows xp sp2, my internet connection is adsl 2 (I'm not sure if that means anything to you guys it's from iinet an isp in Australia). I know it's not the connection though as other people running off the same router are not having any problems.
I started experiencing slower than normal internet and then eventually no internet at all. However when I restart the computer it allows me to load up webpages etc. for a brief period (slowly), after a small amount of time however this stops. Apart from this I can't seem to get any network activity. This applies to both windws IE7 and mozilla firefox.
Recently I have been playing around with outlook and running a hotmail account through there which may have let through a trojan or virus, (not sure on this, but the outlook file for my hotmail account registered as having multiple trojans etc. when I ran avast virus check.) I then deleted this file to no avail. Multiple virus/spyware checks have not led anywhere.
Another thing which may have instigated it (I'm not sure however, could just have happened around the same time) was the installation and the nuinstalation of outpost firewall, a firewall program.
If you need any more information just let me know,
I would be very grateful if someone could help me out. I'm pretty close to just reinstalling windows.
