Question

Network External Hard Drive

Dec 2, 2011 9:48PM PST

I am in the middle of converting my office from pc to mac. I just bought the mac book pro i5 and I want to connect it to my shared external hard drive. The hard drive is connected to my wifi box using a ethernet connection. My entire office runs of wifi because I have a lot of people that come up with laptops that need to access my hard drive and I didn't want them to have to connect a whole bunch of wires. So that setup has been working great for me and nobody every has a problem as long as they get the password right. Now I am having a problem because I have a mac and I have never used one before. When I bring up Finder I can see the hard drive under the shared section, It comes up as Fileserver but there is a second one that comes up as well and it is labeled Fileserver-Timemacine. One of them requires a password and it won't except anything and the other has some files that I have never seen before. If you can help me please do so in the most simple way that you can because I really don't know what i'm doing on this computer.
