Install the motherboard chipset drivers first.
Those are needed for the OS and the network driver.
-Reinstalled the OS on my cousin's old Gateway 500x Desktop. After we reinstalled the OS, we realized that he did not have the original driver disks, so I am unable to connect to the internet with his computer.
When we go to the Device manager, and look at the Network adapters, all it shows is the 1394 Net Adapter, and nothing else.
I chatted with gateway about where I could find the drivers, and they sent me here: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?id=19856&uid=300168259
this appears to be the correct driver, but when I install it, then restart the computer, I look under the device manager, and the drivers appear under the section "other devices" and have the question marks next to them. I've tried uninstalling them and reinstalling through the device manager, but now I have no idea what to try.
Any response at all would help.
