network crashing

Mar 10, 2005 6:53AM PST

We recently added 2 Vonage net phone routers plus two users to our network.

Since then, it seems every day between around 9:00 to 9:30 AM, the system crashes. When we reboot (unplug electrically) the cable modem, the router, and the switches, the system gets restored. Some mornings, we need to do this two or three times.

I think this crash is being caused by heavy user traffic in the morning, since crashes rarely occur in the afternoon when there are fewer users on the network.

It is a small network of around 18 users total, including the Vonage phones, but not all user are on at the same time. We have an off the shelf LinkSys 4 port router, and one 16 port Linksys switch which cascades into an 8 port NetGear (I think) switch.

I suspect the router. One of the remote office users is not plugged into either switch, but is connected directly to the net via a router port. When the net system crashes, he is also affected.

If anybody has any insight into why this is occuring, and what I could do to alleviate this situation, I would appreciate a reply.

Thanks,

Peter Yanagawa
