Network Controller??

Feb 4, 2006 3:44AM PST

I am trying to install a wireless d-link network adapter(dwl 520) card in my grandaughter's computer. When I go to device manager, the card is not named, but an info sign comes up over network controller. Could this "controller" actually be the wireless card? I have been all over the place trying to do this installation and feel that I may gone off track in my endeavours.
All help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance from a network-ally challenged old fogey.

Network Adapter.. You should have a name.. something obvious to you...

It is also possible that you see something with a question, a cross or an exclamation mark (this mean that the device are not installed properly)

The d-link wirelss adapter used to work ok when the computer had win me installed. It now has win xp pro.
I have tried several replacement drivers, but to no avail.

Anyway I'm off to wrestle with the problem again. I will let you know what happens.

Thanks to all for the help.
Jim.

(NT) (NT) Get the drivers first, go to their site, then wrestle.
