Network access and bandwidth limiting

Apr 24, 2017 3:35AM PDT

Hi,

We at NADeP just installed Zeroshell (ZS) as our Network access and bandwidth management utility. Since we are a non-profit seeking organization and ZS being a open source utility it became our primary choice to test. We were able to implement this Gateway in one day.

The Captive portal was our sole interest; but our actual requirement was to limit bandwidth per user. During our implementation we found out that we need to install Zerotruth (ZT) to obtain this. Without installing ZT we decided to create Quality of Service (QoS) groups and add users to these groups.

So far we have a stable Network access and bandwidth management system
The system is a:
Intel 6th Gen Core i3 6300
4GB DDR3 RAM
On board Gigabit ethernet port (LAN)
TPLink PCIe Fast ethernet port (WAN)

With 48 Connected devices CPU load is 20-30% max
We have ClamAV enabled as well.

I fail to see the relevance of your post in this forum about spyware, viruses and security. And I don't see a question. Try again?

relevance about spyware, viruses and security

Hi, Kees_B

We are using ClamAV for our Gateway level Virus and Spyware detection.

Since BYOD has become a issue in our organization and 170GB quota of expiring before 20th of each month and making congestion to our work process, we are under observation whether ZS will be our solution.

I did check the General Discussion checkbox. We thought maybe other ZS users give information about their experiences.

Best Regards
