Have you checked in the Network Sharing Center to see if password protected sharing is set to off? This can be found in Control Panel or on the top menu of the Network Folder.
We have a wireless network with our Comcast cable. We have a desktop pc with the router, modem and digital phone adapter connected, and then we have the notebooks connected wirelessly connected to our network. Two notebooks have Windows Vista Home Premium and one has XP, plus the desktop has XP.
All computers connect to the internet fine and also the network printers that are connected directly to the desktop pc. All computers are set to sharing, but theres a problem with the 2 vista notebooks not being able to access each others files. I can access files using one of the vista notebooks and getting files on the XP computers without a problem.
Ok so heres what happens:
? Im using Vista notebook and I open ?Network? folder
? Then I click on the icon for the other Vista notebook and a window opens prompting me to put in a username and password.
? The problem is I don?t know what username and password they want
? Our network is protected with a network name and password but that?s it.
I hope this is enough information for someone to be able to help me.
Thank you
