I noted five scanners at what I labeled the Anti-Parasite Suite that usually help find the parasite that may be hijacking your browser. Here's the link to that -> http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6132-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=1313&start=0
If after removing the bugs the problem remains, look for HIJACKTHIS and get help in using that tool to understand what it reports. DO NOT delete all that it reports.
Bob
I've been trying to connect to a website for two days. When I click on it on the address bar at the bottom, the URL appears for an instant on the toolbar but almost immediately changes to netster.
I've had a free computer help person look at the registry. He also had me try IE repair and had me unintall IE6 and get IE5 restored. Find turned up a couple of netster entries which I deleted. I ran across a PestPatrol ad saying it could rid me of netster but I've have to buy it for I think forty dollars. Before I do that, I thought I'd see if anyone knows a cheaper way to get the job done.
I have Windows 98SE, a 900 speed with 320 on the hard disk. I connect via AOL but switch to IE to browse. (I'm not using the right terminology because I can't remember it, but I hope you understand what I mean).
Thanks, Jerry
