Netscape 7.0

Oct 1, 2005 12:08PM PDT

Hi, I recently lost all my files, (I had to initialize my hard drive, and perform yet another clean install) including Netscape 7.0, which I want to reinstall. I'd like to use the latest version, but I only have Mac OS 9.1. I tried going to their website and downloading it, but when I click on it, it just opens stuffit expander and does nothing. Is there any way to get it back? Thanks in advance.

P.S this is where I tried to download it:

http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/download/archive70x.jsp

I clicked on the button for PowerPC.

Try this

Make sure you know the whereabouts of the file you downloaded from Netscape. Open Stuffit Expander and set the preferences to expand to the same folder as the original.
Create a new folder on the desktop. Put the downloaded Netscape file in it. Double click it. If Expander is working, you should find another file in the folder. If there isn't, you may have a problem with Expander or the downloaded file is not what you think it is. The Original file should look like a suitcase, kinda. Try the download again, I've just tried it and got a bad download. 2nd time worked fine.

Why did you have to initialize your Hard Drive? A "Clean Install" of OS 9 does NOT require you to initialize the Hard drive.

Hi

Thanks, I'll do that now. What happened was, when I booted up, it was really slow to load the icons, and then it popped up saying it couldn't read the startup disk. I rebooted a couple times, same thing. Booted up from the CD, and it wouldn't let me do anything. So, I started up normally, and initialized the disk. Then, I clean installed.
