That can be proper under a lot of scenarios.

You didn't supply the DSL modem part number but early ones had us install PPPoE software and then that machine could not use a router. If I factory reset the router then it doesn't work either.

Vista doesn't connect to all routers. I can't know if your WGT624 is one of those or if you made the changes to Vista to help this issue along.

Your post is lacking the details needed to start a discussion.

Modem info

The number for the modem is E90-610030-06. The brand is westell.

I installed the Netgear router using the CD, so I'm not sure what I could have done to vista to cause it?

I have no clue how this works or what else would be needed to figure it out.

Let's say you configured the Westell

Like it comes from the factory. This model has a router in it so you would NOT use the Netgear CD but think about changing the router to BRIDGE mode.

HOWEVER that would mean you would know your PPP login name, password and details. I do not have those details, only you and your ISP would. If you read http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Routers&message.id=29701 you find this is asking a lot of the owner.

-> Here's an ALTERNATIVE setup for using your new router. Try setting it up just like we note in Post 17 of our forum sticky at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7589_102-0.html?forumID=62&threadID=264135&messageID=2754854&tag=forums06;posts#2754854

And it's for/from Netgear!
