Question

Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 Smart Router Mod R6700v3 as Ajunct

Jun 17, 2019 10:05AM PDT

I currently use Windstream and they provide a combo modem/router that is doing OK. No issues with Wi-Fi or streaming. My question is, would I gain any thing by using the Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 Smart Router Model R6700v3 instead of the router side of the Windstream box.

Answer
Sometimes.

Some of the ISP routers do not allow you to put your VPN on the router or block changing the DNS. So for 98% of users the ISP is fine and no gain.

You have to have a reason to use your own router. I can't give it to you.

Answer
NH R6700v3 netgear router blinks amber not white power led

I had Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 router 5 months. Update firmware, last night it just went bad. R6700v3 netgear blinks amber / red not white power led. Called netgear, 1 hour of resetting, pinging, shock resetting, and TFT new firmware, the company says hardware failed. Sending me a new one. This is not a good router, 5 months, dead.
