Because air space is shared I maximize by enabling both the ISP supplied combo modem+router and left my router enabled to give me a total of 5 WiFi connections to use. It's not that complicated as I give each their own name and if I feel there's some sluggishness I change which I connect to.
When my cable co. made me upgrade the cable modem, they gave me the Arris. Just yesterday, I realized that the Arris is more than just a gateway and includes a wireless router.
Should I continue as I am, and let the Netgear do the wireless, or should I ditch it and let the Arris do everything?
I read one claim that the Arris has a security hole. True?
Also, is there an open-source firmware for either device?
