Sorry but I know about this but have yet to find any solid fix other than to connect directly to the HDTV then use a HDMI Audio Extractor for the audio. Example of said device at https://www.amazon.com/slp/hdmi-audio-extractor/xc32yz93wutk759
I have the following setup:
* own build Multimedia PC, 4K / HDCP 2.2. compatible
* Marantz NR1608 AVR, 4K / HDCP 2.2. compatible
* Benq W1300 Projector, FullHD; not 4K / HDCP 2.2 compatible
All is connected solely by HDMI cables (except the speakers
)
Until Wednesday I could watch Netflix from the Netflix App, running on the PC, without problems. From one day to another I get an error "This content cannot be displayed because your TV does not support HDCP 2.2"
Duh...! Of course it doesn't, its not 4K compatible. The PC correctly recognizes the beamer via the AVR as FullHD display- not 4K.
It seems that the NetflixApp suddenly started to enforce HDCP 2.2. also on devices that are not 4K?? I can still watch the same Netflix content via browser, without issues!
The answer that I got from Netflix Support via live chat was that this was on purpose. That I was not able to use the netflix app on a PC via HDMI, because Netflix wants to push their users to use appliances with preinstalled Netflix apps, like smart tvs etc.
And that I should use the browser instead.
Was I fed BS by an incompetent call center agent, or is Netflix really this daft? Does anyone have similar problems?
Of course using the browser is _some_ workaround. But honestly, what kind of policy is this?
P.S:
I requested a transcript after the chat- but surprise, I didn't recieve one. Only a generic "Thank you for contacting support" message, no transcript attached.
