Netbook help.

by Mouse0915 / September 6, 2009 7:33 AM PDT

I just started CIT classes, and while I am well versed in desktops and most laptops, netbooks are totally new to me.
After a lot of searching I decided to get this 1

in blue

Basically I have a few questions.

Will the xp thats on it be good, or should I go to windows 7 32x?

Will it be good for basic CIT uses? (hoping so, we're only doing A+ atm)

I know it sucks for video streaming.

But if the graphics can handle windows 7, and if it wont slow it down any, I plan on upgrading to that next month. My school will be selling copies for $50 to the CIT students only, yay!

I guess what I am mainly worried about is the windows 7 upgrade.

Any imput would be great

"Acer 11.6" Netbook with Windows XP"

Frankly it would be a bad candidate for Vista and Windows 7. The WinSXS will erode what little drive space it has and it is missing your common CD/DVD drive.

You can do better. Netbooks are driving people to happiness and despair as they make fine and terrible laptop replacements.

You can do better.

I only got 400 bucks to work with.

Can't save up any more for a bit.

Netbook seems the best/cheapest route.

I checked the pawn shops but I live in a nowhere town. And notebooks are 500+

My kid got a very nice Toshiba L305 Celeron with 2+GB RAM and it runs very well. In fact the Intel 4500MHD GPU is doing much better than I expected.

You can do better and still hit your budget. Keep shopping.
