Netbook Freezing problem

I have a problem when I play something off youtube or BBC iplayer when in full screen when I go back to normal screen the Norton Security symbol in the right hand side of the screen where the clock is, The symbol changes shape or patten I would like to know what's it doing and why it doing that? Is it Norton Security that freezing me computer? Can someone explain what's going on please?

You can test the Norton issue by removing it.

There are other fine antivirus out there. Some are free.

BUT there is a repeating fix called "Disable Flash Hardware Acceleration" you can find on goggle to try as well.
