Is it ok for the main computer running windows xp to be connected to another computer running windows 98 me second edition, could this affect the net working performance

connecting two or more computers is the essence of networking. What are you trying to do and what are your concerns?

are you using a router?
if so, connect both to the router,
then run the XP network setup wizard.
save it to a floppy disk, and then run
it on the win98 machine and your done.
