Nero Recode/NeroVision Problem

Sep 8, 2004 4:32PM PDT

I am having a problem with recode transcoding dvd files to nero digital. After about 30 seconds to 50 minutes of encoding, recode simply shuts down and exits to the desktop. No error messages, nero or windows, and no prompt for a log file. This same thing also happens in NeroVision Express when trying to transcode a divx movie to DVD (mpeg2). Recoding a full DVD to a compressed DVD-5 with recode works without a hitch, so it seems to be a transcoding problem. Have just upgraded to the newest verion of Nero including NeroVision without any change.
Backround: Recode and NeroVision used to work fine with my old system: XPsp1, Azza KT133 based motherboard, Athlon t-Bird 1.0 ghz, 512mb pc133 ram, but I had a major system meltdown and had to replace power supply, motherboard, cpu & memory.
New system:XPsp1, Gigabyte GA-7N400-L, N-Vidia N-Force 2 400 chipset, AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 333mhz, 768mb DDR 333mhz ram, Radeon 64mb DDR VIVO video card, everything else and software same as before. I am using the built in Realtek AC97 soundcard.
I have noticed that the lower i set the compression, the sooner it shuts down.(2hr movie to 1500mb nero digital file shuts down in about 30 seconds. Same movie to 800mb file lasts about 50 minutes, almost done.)

I offer no cure or offer of support of your issue.

I will tell I did find DVDSHRINK and some DVD2AVI and Virtual Dub to do just about all I need to do with DVDs.

In short, I'd try other tools.

In closing, next time tell what you were trying to do. I got lost in your post what the end effect you were trying to achieve.

I just recoded The Lord Of The Rings to Nero Digital and it went smoothly. Maybe you should download again the newest version of Nero Recode and try again.

Think about your post.

Do you really want to document that you did that?

I can delete your post on request.

First of all I did that to show that nothing is wrong with the new Nero Recode, and secondly this is my personal copy of the LOTR DVD which I bought from the store. You can delete my post anytime you want.

I'll spell it out.

In the USA, the powers that be may want to talk to you.

Just my advice that I would not document such an enjoyable process for them to ever find out about that "you did it."

Again, its for your own protection I noted it and that was all there was to it.
