Nero problem - WNASPI32.DLL

Dec 6, 2004 1:43AM PST

After a fresh install of Windows, I couldn't get nero to work because of WNASPI32.DLL file missing. I obtained the said file, but I can't remember which folder to put it in. I do remember Toni H helping someone else with this problem but I can't find the thread. Can anyone tell me where to put it? Also, do I need to uninstall Nero before I insert the file? My OS is WinME.

Already have the file in there......

....it's missing from my Windows system files apparently. I already have the latest version of the file in my Nero Program. Story so far - Nero wouldn't open at all, got error message that nero couldn't find the aspi file, would then try system, that didn't work, then Nero caused an error in something or other and shut down. So, I put the new wnaspi32.dll into the correct nero folder and also put it in my Drivers folder (in system32 folder I think), then reinstalled nero over the top of itself - this brought me forward to the same problem that most other people seem to get which is that Nero works but only the image recorder. Opened the Nero tools and it tells me that Nero has the correct wnaspi32.dll but it's still missing from my system files. I then put a copy of it in my System folder. Still the same. I am posting this from work so please excuse the lack of details (i know this can be annoying). I just need to know which EXACTLY which system folder I need to put this wnaspi32.dll file into, and also if i should reinstall after I get it in the correct folder. Please be aware that I am a beginner where computers are concerned so excuse my lack of knowledge on this next one - I don't know if this makes ANY difference at all - but does it make any difference if the wnaspi filename is in upper or lower case?

My OS is WinME

just realised I can't put that file into my system folder apparently. So what do I do next? and Why would it disappear in the first place?

So where have you so far placed the file?
C:\program files\ahead\nero
C:\windows\system
c:\windows\system32

Spelling should not matter. Why can't you copy and paste the file in the system folder? Does it give you an error message? Do you have other burning software (conflict)?

All u should do is just uninstall the current nero installation and delete all the files from the program files directory and reinstall it.
If u have tried it already I strongly feel that u r computer is infected with some virus.
Try running a antivirus software (trial version should do for the diagnosis).

The winaspi32.dll is usuall in the nero folder in program files. but no harm in putting a copy in c:\windows, c:\windows\system\ and c:\windows\system32\.

Happy troubleshooting
