I had the same problem with Nero 7 Ultra.
You need to go to the Nero site and find and download the removel tool. It comes as a zip file so you need Winzip or something like it. It will remove all traces of the Nero you have on your computer including the registry.
Once that is done, go back to the Nero site and download the free update 7.7.5.1 which is Vista compatable and install it and you shouldn't have any trouble. That site is very, very slow on download speed and even with cable internet it takes a long time.
The only problem I found is that the font size on your computer has to be set at default 96DPI or it won't work. I use 120DPI so I have to reset the DPI when I use Nero. Tech support said they are working on the problem.
Good Luck.

I've purchased a new pc with Vista Ultimate pre-installed. After trying to install Nero 7 with my retail disc a message said it was not compatible with Vista. I went to Nero's site and downloaded the Vista compatible update to Nero 7. When I try to install the program it upacks ok but then the "starting install" box just flashes on the screen and disappears! I've tried as many things as I can think off but nothing works it just disappears from my screen without installing. Any help would be most appreciated!
