Nero 7 Causing system to crash

Jul 28, 2006 4:05AM PDT

I have replaced my entire computer thinking something was wrong with it, but everytime i use or know install Nero 7 it immediatly restarts my system. I know have a pent d 950 with an asus motherboard and a radeon x850 pro video card, before that i had a northwood p4 3.4 processor and an asus motherboard I have also replaced the power supply and the case. I am still having problems with random restarts and crashes and cannot burn a dvd, I have narrowed it down to nero 7, because know it won't even install since I put the new pent D processor in. WHAT IS GOING ON. I have a great system yet can not do anything with it. Is this a common problem for Nero??? HELPPPPPP

Usually plagues those who try to make videos with Nero.

I won't detail why since your post doesn't tell much, but making a data CD usually isn't much of a strain but the number of people that download some video from P2P sources and then try to make a DVD with Nero cause many a machine to crash. Then again, I can't tell if your story is the usual.

Well my issue right know is that i just insalled the new mothergoard and pentium D processor and was in the process of reinsalling the software and nero will not even install. it immediatly crashes the system. With my old processor and motherboard it insalled just fine but would crash when i burned a dvd. Usually the only dvds that i would burn are slideshow presentations that I would make. What would make my system crash immediatly just trying to install it. Crazy thing is I have an old p4 2.8 ghz system with old sdram and non atx and it works fine on it. SO FRUSTRATING!

That's more telling.

XP doesn't take kindly to such motherboard changes so at this point I'll write it's not exactly the usual Nero problem or even a Nero problem.

You can look at manually uninstalling Nero (they tell on their website) as well as looking at the machine with the MICROSOFT INSTALLER CLEANUP UTILITY (google that) to toss Nero out there too.

There is still little to work with for details so I'll stop here.

xp is a clean install
Jul 28, 2006 5:28AM PDT

This is basically a brand new system with a clean install of windows xp (as a matter of fact I have now reformatted the hard drive twice thinking maybe the first install of windows xp was corrupt). After the second install the only thing i installed was windows then my antivirus and then nero and it still crashed my system. It may be helpfull if you think you need more info to help me out to let me know what info it is you need. Thanks The first install i aused norton the second one i used kaspersky. So I know it is not that software being the issue.

OK, we have a clean install, XP, AV and ???

What about all those drivers that Microsoft won't fetch for us? I can't guess if you did this and you are slowing doling out the details.

But it's likely to be the usual new XP install issues.

"most" drivers are installed
Jul 28, 2006 6:07AM PDT

I installed windows, then insalled the audio and lan drivers for the mobo the mobo also had something call a 4 in 1 driver that I installed (honestly I have know idea what it is for except it said something about agp driver. My motherboard has a slot for pci express and agp so I thought it was something to do with that, then i installed the video card driver. then I installed kaspersky and then nero (or that is tried to install nero)

Ok, that's good. What about the MICROSOFT CLEANUP UTIL?

I still prefer old version of NERO
Jul 31, 2006 1:36AM PDT

I have got Nero 5 and Nero 6.
I still like the version 5, though Nero 6 has more features.

For Nero 6, and 7, neither of them are good choice for all Windows users.

Nero 5 is clean, and easy to use.

I just don't know why both nero 6 and 7 can't burn even a CDR, but Nero 5 did.
