Nero 6 Problems and InCD Problems

Feb 17, 2004 10:35PM PST

Hi all, is there anyone else who is experiencing this or know how to fix it?

Problem 1: InCD is not working anymore. I have three formatted cd-rw's, which were all formatted with Nero InCD 4. It still reads the cd-rw's alright but it won't allow be to perform any of the InCD features. I tried installing the latest update without any success.

Problem 2: Nero 6 is really slowing my system down. I have a ASUS A7N8X-X, AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 1GB Ram, LG 52x32x52x CD-ReWriter......etc. Whenever I burn anything while trying to listen to music/mp3s at the same time, the burn process takes longer than it should, music skips or gets really choppy and system slows down.

Anyone know why or know how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Andy

Format new CDRWs and move the files of the failing discs before they vanish. You may not know that CDRW has a limited number of erasures. Happens fast with InCD and such.

You must be new in town.

Not long ago, you could barely move your mouse when recording a CD. There has been progress, but you stil have ONE CPU to do it all.

You can look at getting a new DUAL-CPU machine or just try recording at a slower setting.

oops, sorry but I neglected to say this in the initial post.

I'm running Nero 6 and InCD 4 at home on an even slower system and I get no noticable slow downs, I can still surf the web, listen to mp3s, have a voice conversation, download, and burn cd's all at the same time with not so much as the music getting choppy.

Describe the machines. Tell about who installed the OS. Let me share...

That many are unaware that motherboard drivers are rarely installed by new installers of the Windows OS or by people in service shops.

Microsoft won't install motherboard drivers for most Sis, Via or non-Intel boards. YOU get to do this.

Another very easy XP issue is that DMA will show incorrectly, but you can FIX it with a small procedure to set it to PIO, then back to DMA. It's a Microsoft'ism much like fiddling with the light switch. Here's the procedure you must perform on XP or I consider this undone...

I have the same problem as you with InCD, I have replaced the DVD Burner with a Plextor PX-712A , replaced the version of Nero and updated to the latest online versions of InCD & Nero, uninstalled and reinstalled Nero & InCD using the clean up tools supplied by Ahead and still have the same problem. I am able to read CD RW's and drag and drop files onto them, (although I am convinced this is due to windows XP & NOT Nero). I do not have the Nero Items in the right click menu for the DVD burner in windows Explorer, nor do I have the InCD tab on the drive properties, for example I do not have the facility to format or erase a CD RW, I am at a loss to know what is happening, this problem has existed since January on my XP 1.5GHz pentium 4 with 512Mb of ram

Since I have experienced DirectCD and InCD failures since Windows 95, I can offer that it is not a XP only issue.

I do find it works, most of the time with good drives and media, but is untrustworthy.
