NEOPLANET BROWSER

by RonnieDB2 / July 22, 2004 5:48 AM PDT

The Neoplanet website seems to not be allowing downloads of the browser. The skin gallery is also off-line. I have been trying for over a week. I just reformatted my computer and had the browser .exe on a cd but I lost my skins. Does anyone know where I can find more skins or have them I could get from them. thanks..

IE Browsers in the past months have been cause for concern. Take a look to Firefox and Mozilla and see if you can skin them.

What kind of concerns ? Do you mean hackers getting in etc ? I have script blocking thru Norton but I don't know much about hacking prevention. I had a firewall but it turned out to more trouble than it was worth. I really like the Neoplanet browser with the multitude of skins it had but I will also check out other alternatives. Thanks

For example, when Microsoft leaked code a few months ago, an error was found in BMP decoding. An exploit was found and shared with all. This caused MS to drop all support of IE 5.5 and prior. Then we have http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/download_ject.mspx

"Only users of IE 6 and IE-based browsers are at risk of downloading the malware; users of Mozilla, Opera, Firefox, and Mac OS X are not affected by this exploit."

This is only TWO of the recent barrage of attacks. Not all have been cured by Microsoft.

These are only two that I will share in this forum since it's not the Security forum. And http://www.safecenter.net/UMBRELLAWEBV4/ie_unpatched/ lists the rest.

It's time to find refuge?

Bob

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
