Just put your Office 2003 CD in and run the setup. It will let you delete and keep what you want.
But my guess is that it won't help. Did you already try running Word's safe mode for a diagnosis? See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827706

Running Office 2003 on a Win XP SP3 machine. Word suddenly crashes soon after any doc is opened w/ generic "Word had encountered a problem and must close" message. Tried replacing normal.dot template file and rolling back Windows a week via System Restore but problem persists. Virus and malware checks come up empty. Only option left is removing and reinstalling Word, but Add or Remove Programs dialogue gives me the creeps --- gives me the impression all other installed Office components (Excel, Outlook, etc.) must be re-installed along with Word. DON'T WANNA DO THAT. If I follow the Add/Removed prompts, will I end up having to re-install and re-configure all my other Office programs, or will they be unaffected by Word's removal?
