General discussion

need your opinions on a new external dvd+/- burner

Jan 16, 2005 7:07AM PST

I have a 3yr old comp with xp upgrade Pentium 4 with 40 Gb. It came installed with a Pioneer 104 DVrw combo Cd drive. It only will use the Dvd- format. I added more memory and a Cd/ dvd rom (in the empty bay )etc myself Total RDr memory of 768 now\
I want advice on buying an external one to use on it and my other computers
I have heard of the dual layers units. Will these read and write - and + rewriteable dvds, and + and - cds. I mostly like to use rewritables for DvDs Cause I can rewrite over them when I need to . They are harder to find and more expensive. , the (-DVD RW) disks that is.
Suggestions on which brand ? Should I stick with Pioneer?
Thanks all
Jean W
