Need webcam compatible with a G4 with OSX 10.3.9

I have a G4 with OSX 10.3.9 and need a webcam to use with Skype. All I can find are webcams for PC's. I understand that there are webcams that are UVC compliant and can be used with Macintosh OS X 10.4.9 and up, but not 10.3.9 What webcams can I use with 10.3.9?

many thanks for any help

Hi,
Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you because I have the very same problem. I don't want to upgrade to 10.4 ( which will work with the Logtech Vision Pro webcam) because that OS won't work with my Photoshop 7. If you get an answer would you please let me know?
I would be so grateful.
Good Luck to both of us.

Well, I've heard Photoshop 7 may work with 10.4, but people are having troubles using the filters. Since I use the filters a lot with my art work, I'mafraid to take the chance.
Anyone else know a webcam that will work with 10.3.9??

I have a redundant FW WebCam which I'm sure worked with with 10.2 & 10.3.9 and up to 10.5. If any one is interested I'll dig it out and test it with 10.3.9 on a G4.

OK, I'll check it out and post here. May take me a day or so to set up a 10.3.9 machine.

Photoshop 7 and Tiger

In reply to: webcam for mac

I had no problems with Photoshop and Tiger. I don't have a large investment in filters but the application worked just fine. The only difference between Panther and Tiger is that Tiger allows you to use 64-bit applications (but not within the GUI). Tiger also introduced Core Image and Core Video, which were designed to speed up things like filters. I upgraded from Photoshop 7 to CS3 and found many of the new tools in the new version advantageous.

I did successfully use Panther with a Firewire camera -- actually a camcorder (a Canon GL-2) so an Apple iSight would most probably work just fine as well as any other Firewire camera. I did have a "Critter" cam for a while and it was pretty wonky. But Panther worked great with my camcorder and I was also able to use an Apple microphone with it quite easily.
