Many HDTVs do a poor job of scan converting analog(SD) video. This is where the people who review HDTVs fall on thier faces, by not testing HDTVs on SD video!!!!
If I go into a store and ask to see what HDTV looks like on SD video the most salesmen have a deer in the headlights look( fourm members that work for BBY & CC are the excptions) and say they can't do it.
Try a Sharp or other 37" LCD maybe they will do a better job. John
Been looking for a few months for a new TV. Due to limited space we are looking at 42" plasmas. We live out in the country and there is no HD signal or cable, we have regular Direct TV. My question is this, what 42" plasma has the best non HD picture. We will get the Direct TV HD service but there are only a hand full of HD channels so obviously we will be viewing more non HD TV channels than HD channels. This is for a bedroom so it need not be the best HDTV in the world for example we have been looking at the Panasonic TH42PX60U and Samsung HP4253. Both on HD were great but normal tv was far from acceptable. Thanks for your help. John
