General discussion

need to show an application is running

May 30, 2006 3:31AM PDT

I have a DHCP realtime communication link running between a LINUX laptop and a Windows Laptop (via socket messaging). On the LINUX laptop which is a CD based KNOPPIX application, I would like to show that it is running on the KDE desktop.

I've thought of launching a simple gif viewer with an animated gif (eg. tumbling hourglass or something like that) but I think there is probably something simpler.

Any thoughts on how to do this. The LINUX application is being started with a TCL/TK script.

Thanks,

John
