Need to reinstall Magnifier

by eddie11013 / September 21, 2004 11:30 AM PDT

My brother is legally blind and he likes the Magnifier that came with his Windows XP Home edition. However, somehow he must have messed it up, because now when you open the 'program' up, the "window" that you would normally see, does not open. It shows you how you can change settings, etc., but nothing happens. Is there a way to maybe uninstall and then reinstall. Or do "I" have to reinstall "all" the software from the 'recover' disc's. That's a job. Or maybe, there is another program, for free, that I can install that does the same thing. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Try to run the Accesibility wizard (click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Accesibility, Accesibilty Wizard)

Alternatively, you can try some third party Magnifier utilities (freeware), such as:

Virtual Magnifying Glass for Windows

Thanks for the info. I did try the Accessibility Wizard. Still didn't work. Will try the other programs you suggested. However, I just remembered that my brother also stated that he has been getting warning messages about virtual memory. Maybe he needs more memory period or the settings need to be changed for the virtual memory. I'm sure he just has the limited initial memory that came with his computer and with SP2 and all, maybe he just needs more memory. Thanks for your assistance.
