Need to make a DVD copy of Vixia HF R300 video

Sep 11, 2014 12:57AM PDT

Vixia HFR300 connected via AV out to Sharp VCR/DVD then to TV. TV picture fine but not able to make a DVD copy. Get message 'Cannot record: protected image'
Used transfer facility to Computer. No facility for making DVD. Any suggestions?

Somewhat strange that a video from your own cam is considered "protected" if it goes through that VCR/DVD-player.
So you copoed that video your computer and want to burn it there. Indeed you need software for that (like DVD FLICK) and a DVD-burner, possibly a converter to convert thee Vixia format to a format that DVD Flick can read. It's not clear from your post what of those 3 "facilities" you don't have.

I'd start with trying to VIEW that video on your PC.

Have DVD burner. Video transfer programme provided with camcorder does not allow viewing on computer or burning to DVD.

So what was transferred?

Seems odd but I did read on Canon's site what you said is true.

-> http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/camcorders/high_definition_camcorders/vixia_hf_r300?pageKeyCode=ekbresults&CONFIGURATION=1011&PARTITION_ID=1&secureFlag=false&mType=VIXIA&mName=VIXIA%20HF%20R300&TIMEZONE_OFFSET=&USERTYPE=1&CMD=VIEW_ARTICLE&ARTICLE_ID=16519

So this is why I use VLC Player to play the content and DVD Flick to possibly put it to the Video DVD. This is HD content so there are tomes on the web about AVCHD to Video DVD. I'll stop here and wait for you to tell more and if VLC Player played the content transferred.

Again, Canon does write their Video transfer program does not play video.

There's the clue. Can't help you to break copyright.

Go find DVD FLICK and try that next. Too many tutorials and YouTube on its use so I'll stop here.
