Need to create a custom toaster style notification window.

Hi,

I work for a new department in a company that does server monitoring. We are a little inefficient at the moment because time is decisive when diagnosing a problem, and we have a very rudimentary alerter method: we use a simple text based web page that displays every alert in a linear fashion, with no priority for critical problems. Another issue is that when we are using the monitoring software, the web page obviously goes to the background. I'm thinking that maybe a toaster (MSN Messenger like) style notification, with a short description for every problem and color for severity would be ideal (even sound). I know that kind of app is very easy to code, but I have very basic (really basic) programming skills, so I wonder how hard would be for me to make one, with a little help from you Happy, or any other ideas are welcome. Thanks!
