Look at the Sanyo Xacti VPC-FH1. It is the best camcorder in your price range. It has nice quality hd. You'll be able to import it into adobe to work with it. I think the flash camcorders are easier to work with since you can more easily pick and choose the clips you want to import. The actual import does take a little longer if you have an older computer because of the MPEG4 vs MPEG2 compression, but I think it's worth it. Here's a comparison of flash and hdv if you want more info.
