Need to boost the Volume on HP laptop with Windows 7

I'm looking for a simple software program that would allow me to boost the volume on my laptop.Something that would run in the background and could be easily switched on or off. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Do you mean

from the laptop's own speaker?

If so, I am not sure that will be possible. I use external speakers on my laptop, or if it is late at night, a set of headphones.

We have a few HP Windows 7 laptops.

There are volume controls on the laptop which work super for us. I can only guess that you need more volume than what the laptop outputs. For that you'll have to get an external amplifier. Links to such things -> http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&rh=n%3A13880161&page=1
