Need Suggestion on tv out hardware for new desktop.

by shawndh / December 9, 2008 4:39 AM PST

I just bought an Acer M1100-U1402A from Tiger Direct. I want to be able to play videos on my tv screen but I dont have as s video out on my machine. I'm guessing the only option is to upgrade the Video card, but I'm actually happy with the performance of the ATI Radeon X1200 integrated graghics card.

If there is a way to just add Video out please let me Know. Also, it upgrading is the only option, what specs should I start with when shopping for a new Card? or what would be considered an upgrade to the Radeon X1200?

Also, I just bought a TV tuner card (VisionteK ATI TV Wonder HD650) but I haven't installed it yet. It hug S-Video In only though.

I"d really appreciate your thoughts.

How to I get that up?
by shawndh / December 9, 2008 5:54 AM PST

OK. Since this card only has one VGA port and one DVI port, I'M assuming I'll have to use the DVI port to connect to the TV? Is therea special Cable for this?

It's hard to pick over the specs but it has it all.

I would never have known this by looking at the specs they provided. I'm looking at in in Micro Center and it does say it on the box.

I'm also wondering if it would be worth it to spend $20 more to get the 512 version or the 3650

Thanx again guys.

I'm going to just go with your suggestion on the 3450.
