I would suggest possibly purchasing a home theater system for your setup. A basic one anymore has the dvd, vcr built into the receiver w/options for more inputs such as an xBox/PS2, TV, etc. You could run audio cables from you music server to an input on the receiver, which would then play thru the speakers of the home theater system.
Here's my situation. I have a music server that I'm going to put in my living room. i will use this computer solely for storage and playing music. I control it wirelessly via my laptop through my network with a winamp plugin, so I am set as far as this goes. My problem is this. I need sound. I need to get sound output for both my music server and my tv/vcr/dvd movie watching setup. I was thinking of getting a stereo system to put in my living room, but these systems come with tape deck, cd player, etc...I don't need this (I have these soultions covered with the server, although maybe an FM tuner would be fine). I basically need a set of powered speakers with two imputs and remote volume control (wired or unwired is ok). I don't want to blow out the neighbors, but feeling the explosions in movies would be nice (I live in an apartment after all). Anyone know of a basic sound setup with 2 imputs and some kind of remote volume adjustment and imput switch? I thought about a set of computer speakers, but they don't typically have dual switchable imputs
