Need some help buying the right mp3 player

by mp3-freak / April 13, 2006 4:06 AM PDT

In my past, i have owned several mp3 players including a ipod mini 1st gen, an iriver 700 series, a creative zen micro, and most recently a philips 6G Go Gear HDD 1630. Possibly by a spot of back luck, all of these players have broken within 1 year. I have experienced hard drive issues, screen cracks, and impact from a 40 foot drop. Maybe i attract danger with my mp3 players, but that doesnt really matter. At the moment i am once again researching and looking for a new mp3 player to satisfy my music needs. I am leaning towards a flash player because of their increased durability over hardrive players. I need at least 1G of storage to hold my entire music library.
So far, i have probably looked at hundreds of players, but only a handful have kept my attention. I am a big fan of Cowon and am thinking about their players. From all of my research Cowon (to me) seems to create the kind of flash players that i am interested in. So, i have focused my attention on three Cowon players: the iAudio U2, the iAudio U3, and finally the iAudio G3. All of them rate well on the CNet reviews and on other review websites i have read. Also, all three always recieve extremely well-recommended user reviews.
All of these players are quite similar but each appeals to me for a different reason. First, i like the U2 because of its small size and intuitive controls/interface. Second, the U3 attracts me because of its color screen and many features such as video, photo and text viewing, and variety of supported music formats. Last but not least, the G3 appeals to me mostly because of its superbly rated battery life of 50 hours! Through the years i have experience horrible trouble with lithium ion batteries, and it would be a nice change to get away from them.
As you can see, i am torn between players. If somebody with experience with these players together or seperatly could give me some advice, i would really appreciate it. Also, i am open to advice about other players, though i am pretty confident in Cowon.

I'd go with U2, for several reasons. But yeah my vote goes to U2.

The only reason one would recommend a U2 over a U3 is because they haven't tried a U3 yet. U3 has DRM10 Janus, "Plays-for-Sure" suppport. Whether you use it now or not. You may in the future. The pictures/wallpaper capability is cool. U3. Why not?

yes well, im going for the 2G version of either U2 or U3 and im almost 100% sure about the U3 since on Cowonamerica.com the 2G u3 is actually about $70 cheaper than the 2G u2. it makes no sense but i love it. also, the u2 has a known error where u can only have 650 files/50 folders on the device. for someone like me who uses ogg format (a smaller format to fit more songs) thats just unacceptable. so yes, i should be ordering my u3 anyday now.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
