Need some advice on RAM

by Digibop / March 22, 2010 8:51 AM PDT

Hey group,

I need some advice on RAM.
Which would you select?
I will be using it for gaming and very light video editing.

AMD Phenom II X2 555 Callisto 3.2GHz = Faster, but dual core
AMD Phenom II X4 925 Deneb 2.8GHz = Slower, but quad core

Windows 7 64 bit
Mobo ECS A785GM-AD3
RAM OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333MHz Platinum Edition Dual Channel

Thanks in advance!

Review
by Digibop / March 24, 2010 11:13 AM PDT

Brehen,

I read the review you put a link to.
Did you actually tread it?
The review was favorable for most computer applications.
It's not meant for over clockers or extreme dual video card gamers (I'm not building a supreme machine)
But, I am thankful for your post because I realized it only takes CPU's up to 95 watts. So, I will go with the ECS A790GXM-AD3 it will allow me to put in a more powerful processor later if needed. It also got a good review from the overclockersclub.

Thanks Again

seems your question is about CPU, not ram

go with the quad core. note that the 2.8ghz 925 is actually more expensive than the 3.0ghz 940 ($132USD). also consider an x4 635 (2.9ghz, $120USD). there's no reason to saddle yourself with a dual core if you can afford a quad core.
