Need software to adjust video/audio sync (DC 40)

Jun 10, 2006 1:13AM PDT

My recently purchased Canon DC 40 is a great camera with the exception that the audio and video are badly out of sync.

Please advise if someone knows of software which will shift the audio and/or video timeline in relation to each other. I have Pinnacle which doesn't have that facility.

Thanks,

Cam

For example, VIRTUAL DUB

Has the ability to split the audio and video and we you rejoin them, you can adjust the times. This is no offer to tell you how to use VIRTUAL DUB but to note that it can do this. The manuals are online and the software is free.

Revised Information

Thanks, Bob. Appreciate your suggestion.

Turns out that I was mistaken about the source of the lack of sync between the original audio track and the video. It is mainly caused by the software I am using -- Pinnacle Studio 10.5. The bigger/longer the movie, the more out-of-sync it becomes. I have a clip about 40 minutes into the movie which is really badly out of sync, but if it is moved to the beginning of the movie it is negligibly out of sync. (The camera is slightly out of sync.)

Guess the best approach is to find better software.

Take a look at WINDV.

WINDV (again free, easy to use, etc.) is better at capture than many softwares you pay for.

Just connect with Firewire, run WINDV, capture, done...

Sorry, but fixing the stuff you have...

Is going to be not so easy. But here's the free tools to look at.

1. Virtual Dub to split the A and V.
2. AUDACITY to stretch/shrink the Audio to fit proper.
3. Virtual Dub to rejoin A and V.
