Need serious help guys!

Oct 8, 2004 4:26PM PDT

Ok, I didn't know where to post this so I think I'm in the general area .....

Here is my problem ... I have a good comp and all with a DvD drive and a couple days ago I started to watch a few DvD's on my PC.Well I woke up today and poped in a new DvD.

When I started the DvD up the picture comes through perfect but the sound is all Skippy and fuzzy sounding. Now the weird part is I updated all my drivers and such to see if that was the problem but it's not.

So I decided to change speakers to see if that would work .... nope it didn't.Now I can play songs and Movies I Download but anything that goes in my DvD drive now gives off the skippy/fuzzy sound. So I'm guessing since my music and Movies work without going through my DvD drive then this must be a Hardware problem.

I can't think of why or what would cause this ... So any help on this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Try playing some CDs in your DVD drive, if the same problem occurs there is a possibility of a dirty DVD lens, use a lens (DVD/CD drive) cleaner.
IF there is no problem when playing the CDs, then the DVD is the problem,it could be a recording problem, check if the DVD has scratches.
Try using some media players, some media players have limitations when playing DVDs.
By the way, are you using an original DVD?

It's not only that DvD ... It's all DvD's or CD's that I try and play.Even tried to use Different programs to make sure that was not the cause but still the same sound.

It's odd cause it was working fine until last night then it just all of a sudden started.I don't think it could have anything to do with my sound card since all other Music and Movies I DL'ed work perfect.Just anything in that specific drive.

I'm stumped and need some major help =(

Try using CD/DVD drive cleaner then and if output sound is still the same, try installing the drive to other computers, (to check if there is something wrong with your system), if the same results are obtained, there is a problem with your DVD drive, have it replaced if it is still under warranty.
If could also be caused by a grounded connector, remove connector and use drive earphone feature if it has it, else, try using a different connector. if same result, drive really has problem. Unfortunately, electronic and manual drive defects are expenesive to be repaired.
