Need scanner for documents and photos

Jul 20, 2009 6:18AM PDT

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a scanner to do the following things:

1.) Scan regular paper documents on to the computer to store digitally.

2.) Scan color photos (4x6 prints) to the computer to store as well as share online.

My main question is, is it possible to find a scanner that would give the same quality to scanned photos that I get with my digital camera? What type should I be looking for?

Ideally I would love to be able to RENT a scanner if anyone has suggestions of places that do this.

Thanks for any info you can give!

Perfectly good scanners to do what you need are available from a number of companies, Canon, Epson, HP for under $100. That's going to be cheaper than renting, if that was even possible. You can scan 4x6 photos at very high resolutions that will give you excellent results. These low cost scanners are great for documents as well, since they can generally save the files to PDF format automatically which is handy.

Thanks for that reply. I've been looking at scanners online and found one that sounds good, a Canon, for under $100. Guess I'll give it a try! Happy

Thanks again,
