Now there are folk that will try generics to save a buck. But for some machines you lose the savings if the generics don't work out. If you don't want to discover the joys and sorrows of RMA dances just stick to the list above.

PS. Tip. Be extremely gentle installing the new memory. A buddy showed me a laptop where the owner (who coincidentally used generics that didn't work) was told to be sure the sticks were fully seated. They applied pressure with both thumbs and the socket lifted off the board. Sorry, even one thumb is more than enough power here.
I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop with only a 256MB. I want to get to at least 1 gb (2 x 512MB)which is the max I'm told this laptop can handle.
I've been trying to check around at different suppliers who have 512MB for this laptop model but don't know if they are a reliable supplier.I've checked DELL but they want $40 per module. I found another source called PRO Memory Upgrade but never dealt with them.
Any feedback on this company or can you offer names of others I can check with?
Thank you.
