Is now a rare bird. You're right. You'll have to look at old refurbs.
for me I've moved on. I'd re-consider machines that have the keyboard you love and learn to use the new screens.
The laptop that I am used to working with is the official one given to me. It is compaq nc 6320. Its screen is 15". It isn't wide-screen and keys are properly placed on the keyboard. It is simple & professional and doesn't look cheesy.
Fortunately I am quitting my job but unfortunately I will have to surrender it to my employer very soon, hence I need to purchase a new laptop for myself.
My requirements are simple:
- Surfing internet, emailing, working in ms office, reading on internet or pdf's.
- I generally have 15-20 windows and few applications open simultaneously so the machine should be a powerful one.
- I won't ever play games on it.
- I won't be watching movies on it.
Since I am used to the 15" screen and that is the screen size I am looking for, I am disappointed by the fact that none of the popular configurations of today have a 15" screen. All have the freaky 15.6" wide screen. Plus, some of the HP ones have such awkward and big keyboard with keys spaced and spread on the keyboard.
Is it true that there aren't any normal (not wide-screen) 15" screen laptops available these days? Can someone suggest me a practical professional laptop? I am looking for an I3 processor or in worst case Core2Duo. All I need is a good configuration in terms of electronics (processor, RAM, HDD) and a non-freaky screen-keyboard.
