Question

Need printer for HP Elitebook 8460p (Windows7) & MacBook Pro

Dec 18, 2015 5:52PM PST

I'll say up front, I'm not very computer/printer savvy.

My very old HP Photosmart 7960 printer is still fine for my personal home use. It prints my MacBook Pro documents but I haven't been able to print from my HP Elitebook 8460p. Maybe I should add a driver to the Photosmart, but I'm not sure how to go about finding the correct driver. Is that even the best answer?

While I'd be happy to keep the old printer, I am willing to purchase a newer printer if that is the best answer. I'd appreciate your advice in determining a home printer that would be compatible with my MacBook Pro and my HP EliteBook 8460p.

Did you write you didn't install the printer driver?

I'd start with that.

still need printer for both windows 7 and MacBook Pro (OS X
Dec 28, 2015 5:06PM PST

Yes, I did install the hp photosmart 7960 software. I've spent a great deal of time trying to locate a driver. Apparently there is none for Windows 7.

What do I do now to make sure I purchase a new printer that will work with both of my computers. I have HP EliteBook 8460p (windows 7) and MacBook Pro (OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.5).

I don't have room for 2 printers in my home office. How do I make sure I am buying a printer that will work for both?
