Question

Need picture tagging and searching solution

by Groujo / June 11, 2016 10:42 AM PDT

I'd love some help with coming up with a solution to this need.

I need a portable means of locating specific scanned pictures by description.

I collect jokers. As in decks of cars. I have over 5000 of them so far, and I'm always looking for new ones. I'm often presented with a joker and I need to determine whether I have it or not in my collection.

I'm about half-way through scanning them now, and they're untagged. I'm looking for a means of easily tagging them by description (on PC - Windows 10) and having that info available to search on my Android phone when I'm out hunting new jokers. This tagging can be a huge job: there will be hundreds of overlapping terms.

The endgame is to be able to take out my phone and select combinations of search terms like "orange" "dancing" "bear" or some other combination of of a new joker and see if I have it. It would be best if I could select terms from a list rather than try to remember them.

Are there any programs or combinations of programs you can recommend?

Answer
The trouble is that you didn't tag as you scanned.

There is no known app to add these today. I've seen this question before and some folk explode, melt down that they scanned thousands of items and then found out they will have to go back into each picture to give each keywords for some app to look for.

https://www.google.com/search?q=Digital+Asset+Management+android finds this area to be quite sparse.

As in, not yet.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
