Need notebook help

by Sarahmo521 / November 16, 2004 7:10 AM PST

Hi! I'm looking for a new notebook, but don't really know which one to get. I need a lightweight, reliable, cheap notebook, and I don't need any gaming stuff. It needs to have wireless, and a pretty good hard drive and memory. I'm a student, so I'll be taking it everywhere, and would like a combo dvd/cd-rw drive. I'm not really sure what the difference is between processors, so if someone could explain that that would be awesome!

I was looking at the HP, Dell, Compaq lines...again, I don't do a lot of digital stuff, just music, so I just need something that's gonna be really reliable and portable...and cheap Happy

I was looking at the HP Pavilion ze4908us (because its cheap and seems to have everything I need)...does anyone know anything about it? Is it gonna fall apart in a year?? It said it has Intel Celeron M 320 processor...is that good?

Thanks for any help you can offer!!

Did you end up buying the HP Pavilion ze4908us? My girlfriend is looking at one and I can't really find any reviews on it. If you did purchase it, do you like it? Any problems?

Thanks,
Miles

Save on hard drive size, buy less memory and buy more yourself later for less (if you leave 1 RAM slot open -- only 2 slots), etc.

Don't scrimp on the processor or it is obsolete in half the time that it would be otherwise (1.5 years versus 3 years).

For best battery life/weight/performance get the Pentium M 725 1.6 Dothan processor with 2mb L2 system cache or above (but that is the best value).

Athlon 64 notebooks area good value also but they get about 1/2 the battery life and also weigh more.

I would not get a Pentium 4M notebook at this point as they are not 64bit, they are even hotter and heavier, and only are a benefit for desktop replacements.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
