need new cell phone- don't want new contract

by goldengirl53 / September 20, 2008 4:09 PM PDT

I have month to month with AllTel. My phone is getting old/out of sync with newer programs. Is there a way I can buy a new phone without signing a new contract that is reassonable in cost. I looked at Alltel, and if you buy a phone without signing a new contract the phone is horribly expensive. I don't want to sign a new contract because I will be moving soon, and there is no Alltel there. Thanks

Unfortunately, when dealing w/ CDMA phones/carriers you are limited in upgrade options.

which carriers work well where you will be moving?

That's the true test of what you should do. Pre-paid is also an option. Think about coverage before the actual handset purchase.
