Need Help With ZoneAlarm

Oct 5, 2004 9:18AM PDT

I have Zone Alarm but to be honest I really do not know how to use it right. Do I have it set right? What do I allow/not allow?

Sometimes there are things that want access to the internet but I do not know what it is. The name does not look like something I know. And when I ask for more info I still am not sure. Also when I start up my system and ZA loads there are things that ask to go online before I even connect ( I am dial up but will be going to cable next week)

I hear ZA is a good program but for someone like me who is not sure how to set it up or what to allow it seems complicated.

Any help would be great.

Thank You

I have Ad-aware and SB I did not have spywareblaster so I downloaded it. I will try and figure out how to use that.

So if on ZA something wants access and I do not know what it is.. for example it says "ELENX.EXE" is trying to access the internet I say NO because I do not know what it was/is?

ELENX.EXE---is not a real program trying to get online but there is one simular to that I just can not remember off hand so I made this one up.

Have you tried using Google to find out which program is trying to access the internet? Either copy/paste or write down the name and do a search. When I have doubts, that is what I do. I also answer no until I know what program is trying to connect.
