Question

Need help with windows urgent! :)

Jan 11, 2016 5:22PM PST

I just finished building a PC the only part left is the operating system. I pluged everything in and when I turn on the monitor it flashes to some weird menu looking screen then to a screen that says: Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. Not my uncle just gave me a usb key which he says has windows 10 on it and that he used it for his laptop and it worked. When I plug it in nothing different happens differently than before. Please help. I cant get into the BIOS, no matter what i press it doesn't work, ive tried other methods as well none work it always doest he same thing then switches to the reboot and select blah blah. Please help me!

Was the USB stick created as a bootable iso?

The easy way to test the hardware is to create a bootable Linux CD. Google will help you. You'll just need to download a Live Linux version and burn it as an iso to CD or DVD depending on version.

activate. If he activated it on another machind the OS is locked to the machine. If you have a retail version then you can install on another machine but you must uninstall from the original machine. The best thing to do is to buy Windows 10 on the dvd media and install it using that media.
