Question

Need help with the rogue anti-virus virus.

by Lori0714 / December 18, 2011 5:01 AM PST

Hi!

I am new here and have been hit with this virus. I have tried everything I can find on these forums to fix my pc. I have done the steps referenced on the bleeping computer blog. I have run Malewarebytes about a thousand times I have done everything short of deleting the registry keys myself. (which I am not comfortable doing)

I am still only able to boot in safe mode, and not able to connect to the internet as I am on a wireless connection (laptop.)

If there is anything else I could try, I will do it. Please tell me there is something.....
thanks!

Not Much Information There

Operating system used? Make and model of the computer? Why do you think it's a virus? Did any antimalware tool identify the malware, and if so, which one was identified? (Which "bleeping computer blog" are you referring to?) Did Malwarebytes find anything on any of its scans?

And because there are frequent situations where users must wipe their computers and reinstall everything back to the original condition, DO you have recovery discs? A recovery partition? Backups of your important documents and files?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Grif

Are you able to open in Safe Mode with <span id="INSERTION_MARKER">safe mode command prompt networking?
<span>See if that works, the navigate with web browser and download EBAM and run that program while in Safe Mode. I was chatting with another Tech on Wednesday and this was suggested to me as another alternative.
